Compressibility and water availability in Albaqualf soils under different deployment times in no-tillage Scientia Agricola
Reis,Diony Alves; Lima,Cláudia Liane Rodrigues de; Bamberg,Adilson Luís; Ribeiro,Pablo Lacerda.
ABSTRACT: The southern Brazilian lowlands have been historically used for flooded rice cultivation. Over time, heavy machinery and intensive tillage practices have resulted in soil structure disruption, soil compaction, higher production costs and lower agricultural profitability. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different deployment times of no-tillage (NT). Soil properties including bulk density (BD), compression index (CI), preconsolidation pressure (σp), bulk density at preconsolidation pressure (BDσp), degree of compactness (DC), soil water retention curve (SWRC), plant available water (PAW) and total organic carbon (TOC) content were evaluated using a 30-yr non-cultivated field (NC), adjacent to the experimental plots as a control. The BD,...

Impact of fungicide and insecticide use on non-target aquatic organisms in rice paddy fields Ciência Rural
Wandscheer,Alana Cristina Dorneles; Marchesan,Enio; Silva,Marília Ferreira da; Aramburu,Bruno Behenck; David,Ricardo de; Trivisiol,Vinicius Severo; Silva,Anelise Lencina da.
ABSTRACT: The intensive use of plant protection products in rice paddy fields ( Oryza sativa L.) has caused concern about the environmental impact on communities of non-target organisms that are natural inhabitants in these agroecosystems. The purpose of this review is to analyze the data currently available in the literature about some important fungicides and insecticides (such as trifloxystrobin, tebuconazole, tricyclazole, lambda-cyhalothrin, and thiamethoxam), which are currently used to control pests and diseases in rice paddy fields, as well as their effects on the community of non-target aquatic organisms.

Relative competitiveness of soybean cultivars with barnyardgrass Bragantia
Bastiani,Marlon Ouriques; Lamego,Fabiane Pinto; Agostinetto,Dirceu; Langaro,Ana Claudia; Silva,Diônvera Coelho da.
ABSTRACT The aim of this work was to evaluate the competitiveness between soybean cultivars and barnyardgrass, based on morphological and physiological characteristics of species. The experiments were conducted in completely randomized experimental design, with 4 replications. In the first study, for both soybean and barnyardgrass, it was determined the population of plants in which shoot dry matter became constant and independent of the population (16 plants∙pot−1 or 400 plants∙m−2). In the second study, 2 experiments were conducted to evaluate the competitiveness of BMX Apolo RR and BMX Potência RR soybean cultivars with barnyardgrass plants, both carried out in replacement series under different proportions of plants∙pot−1 (100:0; 75:25; 50:50; 25:75...

Richness and density of aquatic benthic macroinvertebrates after exposure to fungicides and insecticides in rice paddy fields Anais da ABC (AABC)
WANDSCHEER,ALANA C.D.; MARCHESAN,ENIO; SANTOS,SANDRO; ZANELLA,RENATO; SILVA,MARÍLIA F.; LONDERO,GUILHERME P.; DONATO,GABRIEL.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to verify the richness and density of aquatic benthic macroinvertebrates after exposure to fungicides and insecticides of the rice paddy fields. In the crop seasons of 2012/13 and 2013/14, field experiments were performed, which consisted of single-dose applications of the fungicides trifloxystrobin + tebuconazole and tricyclazole, and the insecticides lambda-cyhalothrin + thiamethoxam and diflubenzuron, in 10 m2 experimental plots, over rice plants in the R3 stage. Control plots with and without rice plants were maintained in order to simulate a natural environment. Soil samples were collected during rice cultivation for assessment of the macroinvertebrate fauna. Chemical-physical parameters assessed in the...

Surface drainage in leveled land: Implication of slope AGRIAMBI
Winkler,Antoniony S.; Silva,Jaqueline T. da; Parfitt,José M. B.; Teixeira-Gandra,Claudia F. A.; Conceço,Germani; Timm,Luis C..
ABSTRACT In the lowlands of Rio Grande do Sul, land leveling is mostly carried out with no slope for the purpose of rice production. In this environment, soils with a low hydraulic conductivity are predominant owing to the presence of a practically impermeable B-horizon near the surface. Land leveling leads to soil accommodation resulting in the formation of depressions where water accumulates after heavy rainfalls, subsequently leading to problems with crops implanted in succession to rice, such as soybeans. The objective of this research was to quantify the areas and volumes of water accumulation in soil as a function of the slope of land leveling. Five typical leveled lowland areas were studied as a part of this research. The original areas presented...
